A science course that does not include a lab component cannot use the AP® designation on a student's high school transcript.
I have developed a lab program with specially tailored labs that meet the College Board requirements for an AP® Chemistry course. My custom-designed labs allow students to perform both quantitative and qualitative experiments. Each lab has detailed explanations, step-by-step procedures, and a sample lab write-up.
All of my students keep a lab notebook following college protocols. Graphing programs and spreadsheets are used to analyze data. Each lab has an online assignment that instantly evaluates the student's work.
Students have two options for completing the labs.
Quality Science Labs has been the leading provider of science lab kits for homeschoolers, high schools, and colleges for over 16 years. Students are able to perform labs safely with micro amounts of chemicals while still getting a complete lab experience. The retail price for QSL's Advanced MicroChem Kit, designed for AP Chemistry and first-year college chemistry, is $299.30. However, QSL is offering my students a $30 discount, so your cost will be $269.30 (plus shipping).
If you cannot obtain a lab kit, don't worry. For each hands-on lab, I have created an equivalent guided virtual lab that demonstrates the entire lab process and the data obtained. Students using the virtual labs will be able to make their observations, analyze the data, write their lab reports, and complete the associated online assignment that will grade the lab. The virtual labs are free of charge.
